Contribution to “non-antigen”-driven diseases

Type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes, being an endocrine disease, is proposed to have an inflammatory component, where the immune cell infiltration to the pancreatic islets is held responsible for the beta cell loss. However, insights into tissue-cell interactions within the pancreatic tissue remain limited. In this project, pancreatic tissue is analyzed using multiplex methods to investigate immune cell activation and inflammation levels at different time-stages of the disease progression.
